On Friday, January 20th and Saturday, January 21st, Church Talk Radio hosted a "Final Farewell" to President and First Lady Obama by broadcasting in a "marathon style" the most popular speeches delivered by the president over the last ten years. Some of those speeches include his Philadelphia speech on race relations, his 2004 speech at the Democratic National Convention, his commencement speech at Morehouse College, his farewell speech and so much more.
The marathon speeches of President Obama is the second in a series of marathons that will be featured in the coming months for the remainder of this year. The first of these marathons was on Monday, January 16, 2017, where we broadcast, non-stop, the speeches of Dr. Martin Luther King. We invite you to listen to these speeches and look forward to other programming of this type in the coming months.
Well its official, the studio of Church Talk Radio is now open and active. On Saturday, December 31, 2016, Elder Anthony Davis and Minister Lynn Davis recorded the first offical radio program at Church Talk Radio. The program was an interview format that was conducted by Bishop Andy C. Lewter. The interview covered a number of topics such as the roots of both Elder and Minister Davis and what they hope to accomplish with their weekly radio program.
The subject matter of their program will be marriages and personal relationship. Toward that end the couple will explore a number of areas that couples have to confront, almost on a daily basis. Both Elder and Minister Davis are members of the Hollywood Full Gospel Baptist Cathedral and serve on the ministerial staff their. In addition to their ministerial responsibilities, they lead the Drama Ministry and are in church of the Married Couples Ministry as well.
Bishop Andy Lewter here and I would like to welcome you to the first, of what I hope will be many blog postings that I will be doing here at ChurchTalkRadio. I am so excited about what God is doing and that I have been given the opportunity to touch your life with this broadcast property.
Several years ago, while I was living in Columbus, OH, I was blessed to purchase and operate a low power TV station, WO8BV-TV8. This was before high speed internet and when cable penetration in most cities was below 50%. For five years I was proud to be the only minority owned TV broadcaster in the state of Ohio. In 1993, I surrendered ownership and operation of that station so that I could respond to a call from Bishop Paul Morton to help establish the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship as a "Founding Bishop".
Even though I left broadcasting, I never left the passion and enthusiasm I had over touching people's lives through an electronic platform. That is why in recent weeks, when the opportunity to launch an online radio station became available, I was anxious to seize the moment and return to one of my first loves, Religious Journalism and Broadcasting.
So very quickly let me thank Evangelist Cheryl Boggs, William Jones, Robert Johnson, Nadine Johnson and the members of my family who have encouraged me to take the plunge and return to broadcasting the Gospel, this time via the medium of internet radio. In years gone by my reach was primarily to Central Ohio, now with high speed internet and the availability of an internet radio signal to smart phones, ipads, tablets and laptops, the potential for reaching people is far greater than it has ever been before.
As I write to you today, we are about a good week to ten days aways from turning on the switch to go LIVE with our radio signal. the first step in this journey has been the conversion of the office space in the administration building of our church to a radio production studio.
Over the last several days our workers have been soundproofing the studio, laying carpet, installing furniture and putting the necessary equipment in place so that we would have a facility that we can be proud of. Hopefully, by the time you read this we will have completed the major portion of the renovation and will be close to setting up the computers and software that is needed to take ChurchTalkRadio live.
If you are reading this, then you know that we have successfully completed our website. We are now moving on to build our library of programs that we will be available to you 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This has been an extraordinary journey and I thank you for letting me share portions of it with you. Please stay tuned as I give you updates on our progress each week.
